Hi friend,
Training Nationals for Nationals
in integrity and skills
(Psalm 78:72)
I.   Greetings from Nepal Training  (March 9-13)

A.   Greetings from Dil, our point-man in Nepal.
"First and foremost, I am glad to inform you that we had exciting times with 65 participants this time and the lecturers Rev. Yap Beng Shin and Rev. Simon Nagarajan have done a wonderful job once again and every one appreciates the hard work they have put in and may the Lord bless them.  Let me express our gratitude to you for your fervent love to us and contribution in building us up in leadership. Thank you also for your patience in hearing from me."

B.    Testimony from Pastor Devaraj
"I praise God and thank you for the opportunity to be part of HBSA/ASM MRE program this time. Thank you for your warm welcome and loving care. I just want to tell that I have always enjoyed my time at ASM. Just like I said in sharing the blessing, for me ASM is the best place to be at. God bless you and we pray for you."

C.    Testimony from Pastor Narayan Bhagat
"Jai Masih. Many thanks for the words of encouragement. I would like to big thanks for Dr. Goh for his dedication to train leaders in Nepal. I found ASM is a very unique and friendly atmosphere. I missed many times due to I was away from Nepal.  But when I have the chance I want to join and desire to learn.  Many thanks for sending good teachers like Rev. Yap and Rev. Simon.  They visited our prayer tower family and encouraged us. I am looking forward to meet you next time.  We all miss you very much and pray for you.  God bless you wherever you go and do His work. That's all for now."

D.    Blessing from Rev. Simon Nagarajan

"Praise and thank God for the wonderful experience and joy working with the Nepali Pastors once again through the ASM Ministry.
The Lord has been good to bring close to 65 pastors and church leaders for a time of learning and unlearning, constructing and deconstructing our thoughts and principles in the process of learning God’s Word. Together, we realized in our study of Church History the invaluable and timeless truth and lessons that are crucial for the wellbeing of the post modernity church.
We had a session to reflect on the pioneers who braved the Gospel into Nepal.  Several in the class stood up to testify their pain and losses suffered for the sake of the Gospel. Indeed, that was quite an emotional time and was encouraging to all to press on in the calling God has given to each one of us.
“Ye have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in My Name, He may give it you.” (John 15:16)."

II.   Rev. Yap Beng Shin goes into full-time Mission work.
“These are the trips I will be making in 2014.  I will be primarily teaching the Big Picture Bible Study Method.  Nepal, Myanmar and Medan (Indonesia) will be a joint effort with Asia Seminary for Ministry, whereas China, Manipur, Mongolia and Manipur will be on my own.

Medan - Feb 19 - 22
Nepal -  March 8 - 23
China -  April - May 2
China -  May 18 - 31
China -  July (2 weeks)
Imphal (Manipur) - Aug (10 days)
China -  September (2 weeks)
Myanmar - October (2 weeks)
Medan -  November
Bangalore & Mongolia - (no fixed dates yet)

God has led me into this Bible Study method that engages the right and left brains, using colours to discover background, symbols to determine the main theme and mind maps to construct a detail thematic outline of the text of the Bible.  The feed-back has been tremendous.  God has led me to resign as a pastor to give the last leg of my life to train church leaders in the Third World.  I find this to be very fulfilling.  My years of pastoral experience have come in useful as I train other pastors.  I am glad that my family shares my vision of fulfilling God's change of calling for me. Together we live by faith to trust God for provision.

You are most welcome to participate in this ministry and enjoy His blessings if God so leads you.  I covet your earnest prayer.”

Medan Mission Trip, Feb 19 - 22

There were about 40 participants that came for the 22-day module on the book of Revelation.  About three-quarters of the students are pursuing their Bachelor of Theology, and the rest Master of Ministry. Quite a number of them are sons and daughters of those who were once taught by us under Asia Seminary for Ministry (under Faith@Work Fellowship
website

 blog

It is indeed a great privilege to be given the opportunity to teach these church leaders, and their sons and daughters.

This is the third time I taught them and they rushed to have their photos taken with me on the last day.  About 90% of them are Charismatics. They found it hard to trust the main line denominations there because of their Liberal Theology. It took them a while to realize that all our lecturers in ASM are born again or bible-believing. Now that trust and bond have been built, they are eagerly learning from us.

Dr Haposan (the local coordinator) shares that the leaders are learning to become more biblical. They are also using what they have learnt in their ministry and are getting favorable feedback.  I had deliberately assigned them to use the skill learnt to teach others (refering to the November module). It was a great joy to hear two sisters shared of their teaching experience.  One of them did her assignment on the book of Ruth.  She shared how the book was so relevant to the group of young mothers in her Bible Study group.

The class was disrupted a few times because of power failure.  One generator in Medan city was damaged.  It was difficult to conduct the class without the power as all my teaching materials are in Powerpoint. But, thank God! For at the crucial moment, electricity was restored and I managed to cover the entire book of Revelation.

As the participants get to know me better, they asked more questions and shared about their ministries. ASM has the opportunity to impact these leaders and would-be leaders to be more biblical in their doctrine and effective in their service for Christ. They enjoy learning effective and practical skills that will equip them for the ministry the Lord laid on them. They are eager to have us back and we are most glad to be their partners in their ministries.
